Volcanic Expedition: Krakatau (1 Day)

06:00 - Meet your English-speaking guide in the hotel lobby. Departure for the tour. 08:15 An exciting boat journey to the shores of Krakatau awaits us.

Krakatau Volcano became famous for its catastrophic eruption in 1883, considered the second most destructive in history, after the eruption of Mount Tambora on Sumbawa Island. This event led to devastating consequences both for the local population and for the planet's climate.

The eruption began on August 26, 1883, and continued until August 27. It was so powerful that the explosions reached 180 dB and could be heard up to 3,000 kilometers away. The eruption triggered massive tsunamis up to 40 meters high that crashed into the coasts of Java and Sumatra, claiming over 36,000 lives and destroying numerous settlements. As a result of the eruption, an enormous amount of ash and gases was ejected into the atmosphere, leading to a short-term cooling of the climate. In some regions, abnormally low temperatures and vivid red sunsets were observed, caused by particles in the atmosphere. At the time of its destructive eruption in 1883, Krakatau stood about 300 meters tall. However, a significant portion of the volcano was destroyed during the eruption.

After the eruption, a new volcano began forming in the place of Krakatau - Anak Krakatau (also known as "Child of Krakatau"). It began appearing in 1927 and continued growing over the decades. Currently, Anak Krakatau stands approximately 813 meters tall (as of 2023) and continues its activity. The volcano periodically erupts, and its activity is observed by both scientists and tourists.

We will approach the volcanic island where the volcano is located by boat. If there is no eruption at that moment, we will land on the island and take a short trek to the summit. We will climb across volcanic sand heated by the volcano. We will take stunning photographs.

Here you will feel the power of nature that once caused destruction and chaos, but now offers tranquility and beauty. In this moment, you will feel like part of something greater than just a trip: it is an encounter with the grandeur of nature itself.

Descending from the volcano, you will feel a surge of energy and inspiration.

We set off by boat to a neighboring island, where snorkeling and lunch await us.

Imagine yourself swimming while in the distance Krakatau volcano towers above, and as soon as you dive into the water, the world above disappears and you find yourself in another dimension where nature's power meets its incredible beauty - and this is precisely where our underwater adventure begins in a tropical paradise of coral reefs and fish. If we are lucky, we will spot sea turtles.

BBQ Lunch

Here we will share our impressions and photographs that will remain in our hearts forever.

15:00 Return to Java Island.
